Atletico Madrid are looking for more centre-backs this summer, with head coach Diego Simeone wanting his defense overhauled ahead of next season. The likes of Stefan Savic, Caglar Soyuncu could all leave the club, especially in the case of Mario Hermoso.

Atletico also considered buying a defender in January, when Soyuncu was loaned to Fenerbahce. One of the people they are interested in is Leonardo Balerdi of Marseille, a player who revealed more about the rumored deal, according to MD:

“I told my agent that if you don't have a 100% clear offer, don't talk to me. There was some interest, but it wasn't an offer.

My agent told me to calm down because it wasn't important. The club told me to stay. I also want to stay here and focus on the present moment, even though there are big teams approaching. I am happy here.”

Atletico Madrid could look to reignite interest in Balerdi in the summer. What is certain is that they will try to sign at least one centre-back and in the coming stages, when a shortlist has been drawn up.
