If that wasn't a frightening enough thought for the NBA, Curry's shattering records left and right, right now. In the game before, against the Orlando Magic, he broke Atlanta Hawk Kyle -Korver's record of scoring a three in 127 consecutive games by making it 128, and Saturday night was 129. Of course, with Curry it isn't just one three-pointer that he's making per game. Against the Magic it was 10 from beyond the arc; in Oklahoma it was 12, tying the record for the most threes in a game with Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall. Last month he hit 81 threes to break his own record for most threes in a calendar month.

Curry is the best and brightest of the NBA. He's on course to retain his status as MVP and lead the Warriors to repeating as NBA champions, but the rest of the league is copying his -tendency for threes. If everyone keeps up with making shots from downtown, ESPN reports that the season will end with 58,477, according to their own ESPN Stats & Information. The current record for total threes in a season is 55,137.

It's understandable why Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has suggested that it is time to move the three-point line back from its current place on the court - 23 feet, 9 inches (7.24 meters) at its furthest point and 22 feet in the corners. Cuban suggests that players are shooting from a foot behind it, so it's something the NBA should look into and perhaps test out in the D League.

Curry's irrepressible scoring antics might predicate redrawing the rule book, but while such a rule change would definitely affect the rest of the league, it might not do much harm to the man that Magic Johnson called "the greatest shooter we've ever seen." At least based on Saturday night, Curry's game-winning three-pointer, which he nailed with the score tied 118-118 and just 0.6 seconds on the clock, was drained from all of 32 feet.

If Curry keeps going at the same rate, then he is expected to finish the season with somewhere close to 400 threes. No matter what Cuban or anyone else might think, you just can't legislate for that.

Chinese and Russian ships are now conducting the second phase of joint naval exercises as part of the China-Russia "Joint Sea-2017" exercises.

Starting Friday, the maritime phase takes place in the waters of the Japanese Sea and the southern part of the Okhotsk Sea and is scheduled to be finished on September 26, according to the website of Ministry of National Defense of China.

It's the first time that both sides have extended the drills to the Okhotsk Sea. Russian and Chinese naval forces will also for the first time practice joint anti-submarine excises.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese fleet includes missile destroyer Shijiazhuang, missile frigate Daqing, comprehensive supply ship Dongpinghu, submarine rescue ship Changdao, a deep submersible rescue vehicle, two ship-borne helicopters and marines. The Russian fleet consists of a large anti-submarine ship, a frigate, a rescue ship, a deep submersible rescue vehicle, two ship-borne helicopters and marines.

Vessels from China and Russia will make up two mixed maritime tactical groups according to different exercise objectives. Sailors will also drive deep submergence rescue vehicles to carry out deep submergence rescue operations.

The first stage of "Joint Sea-2017" was held in the Baltic Sea from July 22 to 27. After holding the annual joint sea drills since 2012, Wang Xiaogang, a Chinese naval officer, told the China Military Online that this year "the interoperability between the two navies have reached a higher level in terms of understanding of missions, formulation of operational plans and use of forces."

BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The zero-depth earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale that occurred Saturday in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is not the result of a nuclear test, the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said.

The China Earthquake Administration, of which the CENC is a part, and related departments conducted studies on the infrasonic records of the earthquake and previous quakes including those provoked by nuclear tests on the Korean Peninsula. They concluded that Saturday's quake is a natural one, the seismic service said.

The epicenter was at 41.36 degrees north latitude and 129.06 degrees east latitude, according to the CENC.

The epicenter was roughly the same with a similar shallow earthquake on Sept. 3, which turned out to be caused by a nuclear test by the DPRK.

Earlier, South Korea's weather agency said the quake is presumed to have been a natural one, the country's Yonhap news agency reported.

"The quake is presumed to have occurred naturally," the report quoted an agency official as saying. "A sound wave, which is usually generated in the event of an artificial earthquake, was not detected."
