The Best E-Bikes for Beginners

Electric bikes are enjoying a mainstream moment. As anxiety over Covid-19 drives many commuters away from public transportation, demand for bicycles, including electric models, is exploding. In March, US retail sales of e-bikes surged 85% compared to the same time last year, according to market research from N.P.D. Group. To get more news about electric bikes for adults, you can visit magicyclebike.com official website.

Like regular cycling, e-bike commuting supports activity, sustainability, and, in the age of pandemic, social distancing. The technological advantage of e-bikes is the addition of a battery-powered motor, which allows riders to go faster and farther without breaking a sweat.
While it is possible to find a reliable e-bike for as little as a $1,000, if you want something that is feature-rich, equipped with top-end components, and doesn’t look like a dirt bike on a diet, your search will probably start around $2,000 and, from there, can stretch all the way into the five-figure range.

That upfront financial commitment can make shopping for your first e-bike intimidating. To help first-time buyers, we asked seven experts to pick the best e-bikes on the market for beginners.

For the sake of comparability, we limited our list to Class 1 and Class 3 e-bikes, which are pedal-assisted (or “pedelec”) and provide motor support up to 20 mph and 28 mph, respectively. Unlike Class 2 models, these machines are not throttle-controlled, meaning they need to be pedaled to engage e-assist. For more on the three-tier system of electric bikes, we recommend this article.
If you’re searching for an e-bike that feels more like smartphone on wheels than a beater with a motor stuck to the hub, many in the cycling community are quick to suggest the VanMoof S3. The e-bike is known for its many bells and whistles—concealed wires and mechanicals, state-of-the-art antitheft system, app-controlled customizations—but according to Doug Gordon of the War on Cars podcast, these premium features don’t come at the expense of the overall rider experience: “With the e-assist at the fourth and highest setting—paired with the automatic shifting—I can crest the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn with ease,” he says. Gordon also appreciates how hard the bike is to steal. “A smartphone app allows me to lock and unlock the rear wheel, perfect for when I don’t have time to use my regular lock,” he says. “And if anyone does mess with it, the bike lets out a nasty-sounding digital roar and beeping alarm.”

Like all Class 1 e-bikes, the S3’s motor amplifies how hard you are pedaling to help you reach speeds of up to 20 mph. Unlike similar models, though, the S3 has a Turbo Boost button on the right handlebar, which, when pushed, draws 500w of peak power from the front hub motor to give you an extra dose of oomph. (The motor allows for 250-350w of continuous power when pedaling, depending on your local regulations.)

The one drawback of the S3, Gordon says, is that its battery (which can reach a range of up to 90 miles) can’t be removed: “My building’s bike storage area doesn’t have any electrical outlets so I had to haul the bike into my apartment to recharge it.” Still, for the price and what you’re getting, which is a good-looking, tech-forward city bike, the S3’s is a solid value.
A few experts we spoke with recommend cruiser e-bikes for beginners because they prioritize comfort and stability by placing the rider in a relaxed, upright position. Gordon is fond of the Gazelle Easyflow, which features a low seat, swept-back handlebars, and step-thru frame that makes it easy to mount and get going. Despite the laidback form factor, Gordon says the Class 1 pedelec is a “secret workhorse,” owing to a powerful Shimano Steps mid-motor, 80-mile-range battery, removable battery, and three e-assist settings. “I sit my 10-year-old daughter on the rear rack to ride her home from school and—if I didn’t love her so much—it would be easy to forget she was there,” he says.

Because they prioritize rider comfort, cruiser e-bikes can also be great solution for people with disabilities to enhance their mobility. “As a cyclist with chronic pelvic pain, I knew that if I wanted to maintain riding long distances in my hilly neighborhood, I would need the extra assist,” says Massachusetts bike advocate Joelle Galatan. Her go-to pick for accessibility is the Class 1 Raleigh Detour IE, which is a similar system to the Easyflow at a more entry-level price. Both bicycles feature a low-step frame, a rear rack for holding items, solid hydraulic disc brakes, a Shimano Steps mid-motor, and a removable battery. While the Detour IE is a bit bulkier and its battery offers less range on a full charge, Galatan underscores the advantage of its wide tires, “which make it comfortable on both paved and unpaved roads.”

YouTube is taking on over-the-air TV

YouTube is the latest company to offer free TV shows with ads. The video giant says you’ll now be able to stream nearly 4,000 episodes of TV for free, as long as you’re also willing to watch ads during the show. Shows available include Hell’s Kitchen, Andromeda, and Heartland, and you’ll be able to watch them in the US on the web, mobile devices, and “most connected TVs via the YouTube TV app,” YouTube says in a blog post.To get more news about Watch first class porn for free, you can visit our official website.

With the new free TV shows, YouTube is taking on a number of major competitors. One is over-the-air television — by offering free TV on demand, YouTube is likely hoping that you’ll see what’s available on its platform instead of channel surfing to see what else might be on.
And there are already many options for streaming ad-supported TV for free, including Tubi, Xumo, Plex, Roku, and offerings from Vizio, and Samsung — just to name a few — so YouTube is late to the game. That said, YouTube is also already where many people spend a lot of time watching videos, so it’s not hard to imagine people checking out TV shows they can stream for free while scrolling through other YouTube content.

The free shows could also entice people to switch over from Roku, a company that YouTube owner Google has had some very public disputes with. Roku isn’t sitting still, though; according to a November report, it is planning to develop more than 50 original shows that could appear on its free and ad-supported Roku Channel. If we’re going by potential users based on hardware ownership, then Roku, which says 155 million people live in households with Roku devices, is far smaller than YouTube. Google last said there were more than 3 billion Android devices in the wild, and that is only a portion of the potential devices that have easy access to YouTube.

YouTube’s free TV shows join the platform’s available lineup of free movies with ads, which currently include Gone in Sixty Seconds and Legally Blonde. The company plans to add up to 100 shows and movies each week.

And if you’ve got a student ID or a public library card, there’s a huge selection of movies available for free check-out at Kanopy and Hoopla. To get more news about The paradise of domestic adult boutique men, you can visit our official website.

You can watch it as a feature, either the 150-minute theatrical iteration or the 208-minute director’s cut. Or, if you have the time, you can see it in its original uncut form, or as a five-hour miniseries. But in any version, Das Boot is the finest submarine movie in all of cinema. Only “movie” seems an inadequate description. Wolfgang Peterson’s breakout is an experience, a thing to endure alongside the solemn, silly, cynical men of the U-96. We the audience spend the days down there in the depths with the crew, stalking enemy vessels and tensing up under hull-busting pressure, petrified at the sound of approaching depth charges, elated at successfully escaping through into safe waters. Author Lothar-Gunther Buchheim considered his novel butchered, with Petersen’s film an unrealistic “re-glorification” of the German combatant in WWII, but there seems nothing glorious or inauthentic about Peterson’s adaptation. To the viewer, the U-96 crew’s excursions into fear and madness seem like perfectly reasonable responses to an unimaginable situation. —Brogan Morris

Calling Chopping Mall the best film by director Jim Wynorski isn’t saying much—at all—but it remains a minor ’80s horror/sci-fi classic despite that. The premise is irresistible pulp, dressed in ’80s neon teen fashion—a group of kids hide out in the mall past closing time so they can party (and score) in one of the furniture stores overnight. Little do they know, however, that the mall recently unveiled a new fleet of deadly efficient security robots that are, shall we say, more than a little twitchy. The cast gives us Kelli Maroney, who also appears in the similarly teen-inflected Night of the Comet, and Roger Corman regular Dick Miller as the janitor, once again playing his signature role: “that guy who gets killed in an ’80s horror movie.” It’s a desperate fight for survival as the kids face off against the robots like the zombies of Dawn of the Dead, except with much more gallows humor. Today, genre fans are likely to fondly remember Chopping Mall for the fact that it contains one of the greatest single practical effects of the era; the graphic explosion of Suzee Slater’s head, followed by the robot’s wry line of “Thank you, have a nice day.” You’ve gotta love it. —Jim Vorel

William Styron’s soul-shattering story of an ethereally beautiful concentration camp survivor is brought to life on screen by Meryl Streep. Streep learned to speak French with a Polish accent in order to preserve the integrity of one of the most important literary characters of the modern age. Alan Pakula allows Streep to do what she does best: She dons the character like a perfectly fitted coat. The result is one of the greatest film performances of all time. Sophie’s Choice is the embodiment of the horror of war and its aftermath.—Joan Radell

There are few easier fights to pick among horror geeks than attempting to debate the relative merits of Phantasm sequels, but at least enthusiasm for Don Coscarelli’s 1979 original has never been hard to find. Phantasm is as alluring as it is strange, a dreamy mix of science fiction and haunted house tropes anchored by the gaunt visage of actor Angus Scrimm, portraying the sour-faced “Tall Man” who would become the recurring antagonist of the series. It seems inscrutable on purpose, hinting at elements of its weird internal mythology that will never quite get paid off, but at the same time it also delivers the horror goods via stylish death sequences. In particular, the Tall Man’s floating, bladed orb of death has become a classic horror film prop that naturally shows up in all the sequels, but in terms of iconic moments we have to recommend the final, perfectly executed “BOY!” jump scare, which nicely presaged the ending of Wes Craven’s Nightmare on Elm Street at the same time. —Jim Vorel

Vampires may have become cinema’s most overdone, watered-down horror villains, aside from zombies, but leave it to a Swedish novelist and filmmaker to reclaim frightening vampires by producing a novel and film that turned the entire genre on its head. Let the Right One In centers around the complicated friendship and quasi-romantic relationship between 12-year-old outcast Oskar and Eli, a centuries-old vampire trapped in the body of an androgynous (although ostensibly female) child who looks his same age. As Oskar slowly works his way into her life, drawing ever-closer to the role of a classical vampire’s human “familiar,” the film questions the nature of their bond and whether the two can ever possibly commune on a level of genuine love. At the same time, it’s also a chilling, very effective horror film whenever it chooses to be, especially in the absolutely spectacular final sequences, which evoke Eli’s terrifying abilities with just the right touch of obstruction to leave the worst of it in the viewer’s imagination. The film received an American remake in 2010, Let Me In, which has been somewhat unfairly derided by film fans sick of the remake game, but it’s another solid take on the same story that may even improve upon a few small aspects of the story. Ultimately, though, the Swedish original is still the superior film thanks to the strength of its two lead performers, who vault it up to become perhaps the best vampire movie ever made. —Jim Vorel

Malignant

There’s a dopey twist at the end of and a lot of dead air throughout “Malignant,” a 111-minute long possession thriller about a woman who’s haunted by a vindictive killer who may or may not be her imaginary childhood friend. Admittedly, the movie’s twist could have been the basis for something lurid and fun instead of over-produced and underdone. But “Malignant,” the latest horror movie directed by James Wan (“The Conjuring”), hangs around whenever it most needs to push its pokey plot along. Prioritizing atmosphere over plot development is one thing, but loitering about such a visually uninspired space (sorry, Seattle) can be pretty frustrating, especially in a psychodrama built around an underdeveloped heroine and her mostly implied backstory. To get more news about 99re only boutiques here, you can visit our official website.

What’s it like to be stuck inside the head of Madison (Annabelle Wallis), a tortured murder suspect who can’t remember how she’s related to Gabriel (Ray Chase), a feature-less silhouette with long black hair and a bad habit of killing people? “Malignant” doesn’t provide any satisfying answers because Madison’s creators treat her like an opportunity for obnoxious shock scares instead of a fully realized character or, better yet, the emotional anchor for a feature-length horror movie.

Madison’s consistently presented as an opportunity for tacky effects-driven violence, as in her first scene, where she’s thrown head-first against a wall by her abusive husband Derek (Jake Abel). Madison’s pregnant at the time, and Derek, who’s obviously not long for this world, blames her for previous miscarriages, which are otherwise not visualized, or built up to in a meaningful way beyond thin expository dialogue. Stuff like “How many times do I have to watch my children die inside of you” and “maybe you need to stop getting pregnant.”
Derek soon gets got: he dies by Gabriel’s wispy hands, and in a scene that looks suspiciously like a cut scene from Wan’s “Insidious” movies. Wan seems to love this style of strawman drama. First, he presents us with the canned set-up for a confrontation, then we watch him slowly resolve tension through scare tactics that make the American-produced J-horror remakes of the mid-'00s seem cutting edge. Flickering television and phone screens, unexpected faces reflected in glass surfaces, and gaunt wraiths who all seem to shop at Hot Topic. These are fine enough elements for a horror movie, but not when they’re built up to such a laughable degree, and without much visual flair or distinction. Almost every set piece or kill scene feels anticlimactic.

Madison’s friends and family members are also used as props to set up more clammy scare scenes. It’s almost as if Wan, who shares a story credit with Ingrid Bisu, and screenwriter Akela Cooper, don’t trust their audience enough to know or care about anything beyond Powerpoint-style bullet point dialogue, like when dreamboat policeman Kekoa Shaw (George Young) tells Madison’s suspicious sibling Sydney (Maddie Hasson) that “the doctor said your sister had three miscarriages in the last two years.”Sydney doesn’t have much of a personality, but that’s presumably so that Madison can later describe her sister as the sort of “blood connection” that she’s always “yearned for,” but took for granted, despite being “right in front of me all along.” And Kekoa’s supposed to be cute, I guess, so fellow cop Winnie (Bisu) can awkwardly swoon over him: “we need to find that missing half” he says, speaking about Gabriel’s half-missing murder weapon, to which she says, “Yeah, don’t we all?” There's no follow-up to that tossed-off line, because these characters don’t seem to matter to each other beyond setting up the next shock scare.

Wan’s never been the most technically adept or sophisticated storyteller, but his weaknesses as a filmmaker are especially apparent throughout. In one especially embarrassing scene, Wan cross-cuts between Madison and Kekoa, who’s seated next to his lollipop-sucking partner Regina (Michole Briana White), as Madison tells the cops who’s responsible for all the murders.

Free Screening to Movie That Challenges Restrictive Standards of Beauty

Art Access, Reel Abilities Film Festival and the Community Writing Center today announced a screening to “On Beauty” happening Thursday, April 28 at  230 South 500 West, #125. Attendance is FREE and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 pm.To get more news about 99re only boutiques here, you can visit our official website.

A photo booth will be available for everyone to capture their own beauty! Attendees are also invite you to share a few written words about what beauty personally means.
On Beauty” is the latest film from award-winning filmmaker Joanna Rudnick and Chicago’s Kartemquin Films. The film looks at beauty through the lens of fashion photographer Rick Guidotti, who highlights vibrant individuals with genetic conditions. His photographs are a stark contrast to the sad, isolated figures seen in medical textbooks and they inspire many to change their public perceptions on what it means to be beautiful.

Rick had a successful career in New York, Milan and Paris and worked for clients such as Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Yves Saint Laurent. He grew frustrated with having to work within the industry’s restrictive standards of beauty. One day in New York, he had a chance meeting with a stunning young woman who had albinism. He was immediately struck by her beauty and researched the genetic condition.

What he found in medical textbooks were depressing images with dehumanizing black bars covering the person’s eyes. He partnered with the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation to create a set of photos that highlighted the individual not the disease. His photos appeared in Life Magazine in June 1998. Soon after he created a foundation built on his mission called Positive Exposure.

Joanna first saw Rick’s stunning photographs at a Genetic Alliance conference in 2009 where she was presenting her directorial debut film, “In the Family.” She was speaking about her own experience with having an unseen genetic condition and began to think about what it would be like to have a condition that made you visibly different.

For the past five years, Joanna has followed Rick around the world, from his studio in New York City to conference halls in Las Vegas to a remote village in Kenya. At the center of the film are two people he meets along the way: Sarah Kanney and Jayne Waithera.

Sarah was born with Sturge-Weber syndrome, a condition that leaves a port wine birthmark on her face and brain. Since she was four, she has needed multiple eye surgeries, but it hasn’t deterred her from her passion — racing motocross. Sarah said when she puts on her helmet she feels free from the stares and judgments from others. When she was in eighth grade Sarah was bullied so harshly she left public school for home school. Her meeting with Rick helped Sarah gain independence and confidence. She got a job, moved out on her own and started to study for her GED.

Jayne was raised by her grandmother after her mother abandoned her, a common occurrence for people with albinism in Eastern Africa. The society does not understand the specific health and safety needs. They are called “money” or “walking banknotes” because witch doctors will pay for their body parts. Jayne was researching albinism when she came across Rick and his work. Immediately she knew she had to meet him. She has grown into a leader in her community and helped found the first Positive Exposure branch in Kenya.

Beauty’ Trailer: Sundance Star Andrew Dosunmu’s Latest Hits Netflix On June 29

Beauty’ on Netflix, an Empty Music-Biz Allegory Apparently Inspired

The notable name tied to Netflix movie Beauty is the multitalented Lena Waithe, whose notable credits are really starting to pile up: Actress in Ready Player One and Bad Hair, writer of Queen and Slim, writer and actress in Master of None, producer of The 40-Year-Old Version and Dear White People (the movie), and creator of The Chi and Twenties. Beauty is her latest screenplay, the story of a young woman on the cusp of pop stardom, which sure seems inspired by Whitney Houston’s early career, even if it’s not stated outright. So it’s not a full-blown Whitney biopic – that’s on the books for Dec. 2022, titled I Wanna Dance with Somebody – but it ultimately may be more notable for introducing us to its star, newcomer Gracie Marie Bradley, who gives hints of greatness in an otherwise slightly frustrating film.To get more news about Lilac June Tingting, you can visit our official website.

The Gist: We open on an artsy montage: Beauty (Bradley) in front of a microphone in a recording studio, performing on stage, in moments of sweet intimacy with her girlfriend Jasmine (Aleyse Shannon). We don’t hear her sing. The movie settles in her bedroom, where she and Jasmine talk about someday experiencing “freedom.” Beauty’s brother Abel (Kyle Bary) climbs through the window and sparks up a joint. Her mother (Niecy Nash) readies dinner downstairs. Half-brother Cain (Micheal Ward) unpacks suitcases from the car, because their father (Giancarlo Esposito) has just returned from a trip.

Everyone sits down for a meal that reveals multiple layers of dysfunction. Father runs the show cruelly and abusively. Mother aspired to be a great singer but never became more than a backup; she cracks the whip on Beauty for six hours of practice every day. Abel is kind. Cain is nasty. (Will the brothers get in a fight? No spoilers here, pal.) Only Abel seems willing to fully embrace the idea of Jasmine being Beauty’s partner and lover. Mother preaches the church’s words on man and wife becoming one flesh, but only Jasmine has the guts to imply Father’s infidelity. Her words are met with chilly silence. We get shots of Mother coaching Beauty in church. We see Beauty again in that recording studio. But we still don’t hear her sing.

From contextual details, one gleans that it’s the early 1980s, and Beauty is about 20 years old, give or take a year. The doorbell rings, and in walks a white woman (Sharon Stone). In the credits, she’s dubbed only “Colonizer.” She has a contract. Record label, management, either or both, it doesn’t matter. Father has negotiated the contract, and when Beauty suggests she get a lawyer to look at it, he sees that as an affront to his fatherhood and manhood: “After all I’ve done for you, this is how you repay me?” She signs it. Where does Jasmine fit into this? Not sure she does, since others have control of Beauty, who’s torn between the piece of her heart that belongs to Jasmine, and the piece holding her aspirations. All those shots of her in a recording studio? They’ve been flash-forwards. We still haven’t heard her sing, and we won’t.

The movies that turned Quentin Tarantino into a ‘know-it-all’ hitmaker

In 1985, Quentin Tarantino was 22 and working behind the counter at Video Archives, a movie store in Manhattan Beach, California. He was, in his own words, “a brash know-it-all film geek”. The store shut its doors in 1994, but he’s gone on to bigger and better things. To get more news about Happy in May, lilac in June, you can visit our official website.

Now 59, he’s best known as the writer-director of nine features (from Reservoir Dogs in 1992 to Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood in 2019), his name above the title a guarantee of box-office bounty. He says he’s going to retire after number 10 and not be like all those other filmmakers who hit their peak and fade away. His recent activities suggest, however, that he’s still going to be very busy. His initial success made it possible for him to buy all the VHS tapes left on the shelves when Video Archives closed down, and the profits from his subsequent work allowed him to rebuild the store in the Beverly Hills home he shares with his wife of four years and their two children.

Furthermore, for the best part of a decade, he’s been owner and head programmer of the New Beverly Cinema at 7165 Beverly Blvd. Last year, he launched the Video Archives Podcast, on which he and his Pulp Fiction co-writer Roger Avary shoot the celluloid breeze, and published his novelisation of Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.

Now comes Cinema Speculation. Ostensibly a collection of essays about films he’s seen over the years, it’s also an unusual kind of self-portrait. The Tarantino who emerges from between its lines is a mixed bag: a restless soul, a blowhard bursting with enthusiasms, an egotistical bore, an intelligent Hollywood insider who also sees himself as a bit of a rebel, a kid who grew up with dreams he never abandoned …

The first chapter, Little Q Watching Big Movies, has him looking back on a largely unsupervised childhood spent at the movies. And not just any movies. At the age of seven, Big Q recalls, in the company of his stepfather – the first of numerous father figures in his life – he saw a double bill of John G Avildsen’s blood-drenched Joe and Carl Reiner’s pitch-black comedy, Where’s Poppa? (both 1970), at the Tiffany Theater on the Sunset Strip.
Wait a minute, you saw a double feature of Joe and Where’s Poppa?,” he reflexively exclaims, something he does a lot of in the book. “At seven?” The italics are his and there’s a flood to follow: for titles (which is fair enough), for characters in films (which is bizarre), and for emphasis (which is acceptable occasionally; but hey, there’s a hailstorm of them here, making it seem as if whole pages are shouting at you).

Cinema Speculation could be, but isn’t, subtitled The Revenge of the Nerd. Tarantino writes like the film geek behind the counter of the video store who’s suddenly laid his hands on a megaphone. That acquisition is a by-product of his (deserved) success as a filmmaker, not a sign of his virtuosity as a film critic or historian. He desperately wants us to be in awe of him, to know that he’s not just a cool guy now; he was born that way. He tells us that, when he was 15 but tall enough to get into R-rated movies on his own, for example, he saw Taxi Driver for the first time “with an (except for me) all-black audience”. “What was our response?” he asks. “I dug it, they dug it, and as an audience, we dug it.” There’s an unsettling kind of desperation in this need to dig.

Despite this, there is much to like about Cinema Speculation. As Tarantino scrutinises some of the key American films and filmmakers of the late 1960s and the ’70s, he might come off as a bit of a blabbermouth, but he is movie-savvy.

Ten Bengali films featuring Uttam Kumar

In the history of Bengali cinema, the '50s to the '70s witnessed the rise of an iconic celluloid pair, which literally revolutionized how people would talk about Bengali cinematic romance forever. If you want to give romance a face, the palette would no doubt be filled with Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen’s romantic escapades on celluloid. They used to churn out hits after hits. Here is a list of 10 Bengali films featuring Uttam-Suchitra you should not miss out on:To get more news about Ting Ting Lilac, you can visit our official website.
Romance literally starts and ends with the legendary Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen pair in Bengali film history. The actors first shared screen space in the comedy flick ‘Sharey Chuattar’ (1953), and this classic romantic drama 'Agni Pariksha' in 1954 cemented their immortal status in the hearts of Bengal. Directed by Agradoot, a team of film technicians who made Uttam Kumar’s earliest hits, ‘Agni Pariksha’ is the story of Tapasi (Suchitra Sen), a singer who has been married (forcefully) as a child to a corrupted village zamindar’s son Bulu, and the adorable relationship between her and Kiriti (Uttam Kumar).
It was the second movie of Suchitra Sen and the first one of Uttam and Suchitra together, which made them the most successful and loved screen pair ever. 'Sharey Chuattar' is believed to be one of the best Bengali old comedy movies which is still a must-watch. Just imagine the chaotic situation when a beautiful young lady steps into a hostel full of bachelors! Director Nirmal Dey opted for the most romantic pair of Bengali cinema- Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen at their best and to some extent an even better on-screen chemistry between Molina Devi and Tulsi Chakraborty.
The iconic bike sequence of this Bengali classic turned out to be a template for many Bengali romantic tracks. Coming to celluloid during the peak of the Uttam-Suchitra wave, ‘Saptapadi’ is all about the doomed romance of a Bengali Brahmin boy and a Christian girl. The movie was packed with all the elements a romantic Bengali film of 1960 would have. The outstanding camera work, brilliant script and heart-touching music, makes ‘Saptapadi’ a near perfect movie experience for cine lovers.
‘Indrani’, directed by Niren Lahiri, is a regular Uttam Kumar-Suchitra Sen love story with some added twists different from the typical on-screen romance of any film featuring the pair. It’s a film much ahead of its time breaking the stereotypes at that time. It’s one of the very few early films in Indian cinema that dealt with the ramifications of a husband-wife relationship where the wife becomes successful and the husband fails to succeed in life.
'Shap Mochan' is another Uttam-Suchitra classic directed by Falguni Mukherjee. The entire film sees Suchitra Sen in her amazing portrayal of Madhuri and her desperation to eliminate a family curse and inspire Uttam Kumar (the character Mahendra) to pursue his musical career. A strong storyline and superb acting by some of the stalwarts of the Bengali films, make this 1955 classic one of the elite films Uttam and Suchitra have ever acted in.
With their sheer charisma and chemistry, Uttam-Suchitra used to beat any other on-screen couple hollow. Their classic romantic films together are a treat to watch even today and ‘Pathey Holo Deri’ seems to be no exception. The story of the film revolves around an MBBS doctor (Uttam) who falls in love with the granddaughter (Suchitra) of a wealthy man. The young lady helps him to pursue his dream to complete higher studies by giving him her mother’s jewellery. After the return of the doctor, the fate of the couple takes a twisting turn as the grandfather of the girl goes for a sinister move.
The legendary Suchitra Sen and Uttam Kumar– that’s what this movie is all about. It’s simply their charisma, their chemistry, their presence which will captivate you throughout. As per the narrative, Uttam Kumar becomes an amnesiac following a train accident and meets a doctor played by Suchitra Sen. They fall in love and eventually tie the knot, but soon Uttam recovers his lost memory after another accident. He then returns to his old life, leaving Suchitra but she visits Calcutta in search of her husband. Uttam fails to recognize her. Isn’t it an intriguing storyline? The climax is even better!
Bengal has no doubt gifted so many great names in acting and entertainment, some far more talented than the duo. Still, time hasn’t worn down the sweet memory of Uttam-Suchitra. The why’s and how’s of their chemistry mystified a generation that saw the pairing as romantic legends. ‘Sabar Uparey’ was a film of that calibre. The story followed a poor lawyer who suddenly hears that his father served a jail sentence for a woman's murder he didn't even commit. To establish his father's innocence, the protagonist (Uttam Kumar) leaves his home to start his own probe and when everything is against him, he fights back.

St. James Players production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ now on stage at Showplace in Peterborough

Community theatre has been Natalie Dorsett’s thing she can remember but, since she was cast in her first musical at age seven, that particular form of artful expression has been in her wheelhouse. To get more news about European and American va, you can visit our official website.

So it was in 2019 that Dorsett proposed staging the Disney musical Beauty and the Beast to the St. James Players brain trust. The green light given and all was good — until a not-so-funny thing happened on the way to Showplace Performance Centre and the planned fall 2020 run of the Disney classic.

“We were ready to go for 2020 and then we all know what happened,” reflects Dorsett, just hours before the long-anticipated November 11th opening of Beauty and the Beast at the downtown performance venue.

“We were like ‘OK, we’ll wait until all the pandemic stuff is settled down and look at 2021’. Then 2021 hit and we all knew it wasn’t going to happen. So, in January of this year, we kind of stopped planning for it and it became very wait and see. What else could you do?
Now, with 127 auditions and six months of rehearsals in the rearview mirror, St. James Players’ presentation of Beauty and the Beast has finally taken to the big stage, with upcoming performances November 13 at 2 p.m., November 16 to 18 at 7:30 p.m., and a final matinee performance at 2 p.m. on November 19.

Assigned-seating tickets for the show, sponsored in part by kawarthaNOW, are $35 for adults and $32 for seniors or students and are available online at tickets.showplace.org and at the Showplace box office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday.

With more than 10 years on Broadway, the stage version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was adapted from the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated film of the same name. More than 20 million people worldwide have heard the show-stopping musical numbers (with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howards Ashman and Tim Rice), including the songs “Belle,” “Gaston,” “Be Our Guest,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who feels out of place in her provincial French village where she is being romantically pursued by local bachelor Gaston. When her father Maurice is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle’s attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast, a grisly and fearsome monster who was once a young prince but was long ago trapped in his gruesome form by an enchantress.

The only way for the Beast to become human again is if he learns to love and be loved in return. There is a time limit too: once a magical rose loses all of its petals, all hope will be lost and he will stay a Beast forever.

The Beast’s enchanted household — populated by such beloved characters as Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Babette, Wardrobe and Chip — watches on anxiously as Belle and the Beast grow to understand and befriend one another. Their feelings for each other grow ever deeper as the clock ticks and petals continue to fall off the enchanted rose. Will they confess their love for one another before it is too late?Dorsett admits she was torn between proposing Sleeping Beauty or Beauty and the Beast for the next big St. James Players show.

“My husband (Chris) said ‘Well, listen to the music — you always say it’s about the music.’ I pulled up Beauty and the Beast on Spotify and I was sold.”

“Before I proposed it, I made sure I had some key members of my team,” Dorsett adds. “I asked Shelley Moody for hair and makeup. I knew that was so instrumental in creating the vision for Beauty and the Beast. She was on board. Next, I got my choreographer Melissa Earle, and I got my music director Dustin Bowers. I thought ‘OK, I have these three. I can do this.’ Then, luckily, both Wendy Morgan and Debbie Airhart said they would produce for me.”

Beauty and the best

We're still several months away from the official start of awards season, but the stars have already been stepping out in trophy-worthy looks at the 2017 Venice Film Festival, which kicked off a week ago. To get more news about japanese porn video, you can visit our official website.

Jennifer Lawrence celebrated her intense role in the film Mother! with an equally intense smoky eye, Kate Bosworth demonstrated how to make a top knot look fancy and Amal Clooney looked more glamorous than everyone else.

Read on below for the celebrity beauty highlights from the festival and get tips you can use to copy them at home.Jennifer's new movie, Mother!, is her first foray into the horror genre and it was fitting that her eye make-up at the Venice premiere was perhaps the most dramatic we've seen on her yet.

Make-up artist Fulvia Farolfi created a dark, winged smoky eye that popped against her fair skin.

Less dramatic, but gorgeous nonetheless, was the wispy, double-knotted updo courtesy of hair pro Jenny Cho. The new mother of two brought old Hollywood glamour to Venice at the premiere of husband George Clooney's film Suburbicon.

To get the look, make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury used her own brand's Eyes to Mesmerise cream eyeshadow in Marie Antoinette, a golden mink shade, on and below the eyes, and a mix of her Matte Revolution lipstick in Love Liberty, a wild rose, and The Queen, a berry pink, on the lips.

Looking to film stars from the 1940s, hairstylist Rod Ortega explained that he blew out and curled Amal's strands and then rolled the ends of her hair up to the head with a bun form that he cut in half. The style was secured with pins and a light spritz of Rene Furterer Vegetal Styling Strong Hold Finishing Hairspray. For a look that was modern and flirty yet elegant, hairstylist Giannandrea created a wrap-around, textured high ponytail for the First Reformed star.

'This hair texture tight sides and top voluminous high ponytail enhance the flawless makeup,' he said of the look.

The make-up revolved around a brown-ish red lip (Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Cocoa Pout) that pro Mary Greenwell perfected with a cotton swab for 'a soft natural edge'.

'Amanda has the most amazing natural high-color lips, so very little lipstick was needed to enhance what is already so incredibly gorgeous,' the make-up artist said.

5 Reasons Why Beauty and The Beast is Disney’s Greatest Animated Film

When Disney released its version of Beauty and the Beast to theaters back in 1991, it was a game-changer for the House of Mouse. Disney had made hit films before but it was Beauty and the Beast that really captured the hearts and imaginations of theatergoers, young and old alike. Along with its contemporaries, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast kicked off the Disney Renaissance, a movement that changed animation forever. Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. It actually won the Oscar for Best Musical or Comedy. To get more news about porn online video, you can visit our official website.

5) IT WAS A STORY OF BOY MEETS GIRL

One of the simplest, yet most effective stories to tell is that of ‘boy meets girl.’ It’s easy, relatable and, when told right, magical. Such was the case with Beauty and the Beast. It was a beautiful story of boy meets girl. It’s just, in this case, the boy was a beast who was put under an enchanted spell that could only be broken by true love. And the girl happened to be somebody the beast kind of kidnapped and held prisoner, after originally kidnapping her father and holding him prisoner.

4) THE SONGS WERE EXTREMELY CATCHY

Admittedly, this could be attributed to most of Disney’s films. Still, the songs in Beauty and the Beast are memorable, catchy and oh-so-beautiful. Whether it’s the titular song, ‘Be Our Guest,’ ‘Gaston,’ or even ‘Belle,’ all of the songs in Beauty and the Beast will stay with you long after the credits roll.

3) THE VOICE ACTORS

The talent involved with Beauty and the Beast was incredible. Paige O’Hara voiced Belle while Robby Benson was cast as The Beast. The creators of the film said they chose Benson for the role because “you could hear the prince beneath the fur,” and that’s exactly right. In addition to the leads, Beauty and the Beast also featured Jerry Orbach (Lumiere), Richard White (Gaston), Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts) and more. All of whom brought something unique and delightful to the Disney table.

2) BELLE ISN’T A PRINCESS (IN A GOOD WAY)

A big reason why girls (and boys!) love Belle so much is that she’s so relatable. Most little girls aren’t princesses, or mermaids or ice queens. But there are millions of young girls who others might find “rather odd,” because they’d rather read books than settle down. Belle isn’t a princess. She doesn’t wear glass slippers, because she’d get them dirty. Belle is just a girl who has bigger dreams than what her current life consists of. She wants adventure and romance and stories to tell. Belle doesn’t want a tiara; she wants a book.

1) THE THEMES OF INNER BEAUTY

And really, this is what it all comes down to. It’s an easy trope to use, but it’s cliché for a reason. Beauty and the Beast is about realizing we are capable of being both, but choosing to showcase our beauty. And that beauty has nothing to do with physical appearance. It has to do with the heart. Belle is beautiful because she is kind, thoughtful, funny and smart. The Beast had inner beauty as well — it just took him a while to find it. We all have both a beauty and a beast inside of us. It’s just up to us which one we show to the world.

Portrayal of Beauty in Film

Film throughout the world tends to focus on different sides of the idea of beauty. Films have different focuses, in which some highlight the scenery rather than the actual people in the movie. Other films showcase the drama and plot of the movie. There are also films that have a focus on the physical appearance of the actors and actresses and use that to appeal to audiences. In the United States, many movies portray beauty as something unrealistic, setting standards for the masses that are difficult or even harmful to achieve. In addition, there are gender differences in the film industry as to what beauty looks like. Women are particularly targeted in these standards, in which many films objectify them with their appearances. Many animated movies such as Disney’s Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty portray the “beauty is good” stereotype, in which there is the belief that attractiveness is more important in females than in males. Younger children who grow up watching movies like these may develop the idea that beauty is mainly found in the physical appearance of oneself. To get more news about anime av you can visit our official website.

The media can be very destructive, and films being a part of media can add to this. Movies often focus more on getting people who fit beauty stereotypes, male or female. In more recent years, there is an increasing number of films made that have a focus on showing beauty in all different types of appearances and trying to spread the message that true beauty is found in the heart and not based on one’s physical appearance. Still, there are gender differences in the portrayal of beauty among men and women. Some beauty standards among women are the exact opposite among men. For instance, men are often criticized for being skinny and told instead that they need to have muscle. Women are often told they need to be skinny to be attractive. However, many women are still criticized sometimes for being “too skinny.” Beauty standards for men and women are constantly changing. Years ago, Marylin Monroe was considered the most attractive woman alive. The notable aspect about this is the idea that the standards she was held to were completely different than those of the present day. For instance, the reasoning that people have as to why models of today are attractive is completely different than the reasoning given as to why Marylin Monroe was attractive to people.

A notable aspect of the film industry is that movies in America will often portray people who committed crimes as physically attractive, whether they were according to beauty standards or not. For example, the movie, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, used Zac Efron, an idolized actor that many people find very attractive, to play Ted Bundy, a serial killer. The reason why the film industry did this was to appeal to a wider range of people. They believed that more people would want to watch the movie if it featured an “attractive” actor, even though he was playing a serial killer. Several other movies follow suit with this idea, whether dealing with males or females. This further emphasizes the idea physical attractiveness of actors and actresses being very important to people in the film industry, even more so than the character and heart of a person.

In the United Kingdom, films are often about prejudice, discrimination, coming of age, and life in difficult parts of the country. Most British films are realistic and confined to certain genres. They often have more of a focus on the plot of the film rather than the physical appearances of the characters themselves. British films are often more relaxed in terms of filming and show scenes from further away to allow viewers to form their own ideas about what is important to focus on in each of the scenes. Filmmakers tend to stray away from hiring actors and actresses for their physical appearance, and instead chose people for their capabilities in terms of if they can accurately portray the character. This differs from many films in the American industry since there appears to be a large focus on having “attractive” actors and actresses to entice people to watch the movies. Whereas, in British films, beauty is often portrayed in the scenery shown in the film or the story itself, rather than in the characters. This does not mean that beauty does not exist within the characters, however, the focus is on other aspects of the movie.

In the film industry of Bollywood in India, there are beauty standards for women in which they are often objectified. Many films will often have a focus on getting “attractive” young women to appeal to more people. However, there will often be older male actors playing the love interest in the films since many popular male actors tend to stay out of retirement for a long time. This brings attention to the focus on showcasing beauty in women rather than in men, which like the American industry, adds to stereotypes and unrealistic beauty standards. Many men in India do not have as many interactions with women as movies portray them to have, so they will often learn about how a woman “should” be treated through movies. Unfortunately, many of these movies portray men treating women as objects to look at and use for their benefit, which is unjust and shows the unequal treatment of men and women in Indian society. Many Bollywood movies will normalize the stalking and harassment of women, as well as to glorify rape to show it as acceptable. These standards and aspects of the portrayal of beauty in the film industry can harm people’s safety in Indian society.

Decoding China’s CIIE And What It Means For Foreign Brands

In 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the creation of the annual China International Import Expo (CIIE). Its purpose is to expand “China’s opening-up” and turn the nation’s “enormous market into enormous opportunities for the world.” Since 2018, the government-backed expo has been held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. To get more news about China International Import Expo, you can visit shine news official website.

In 2021, over 2,900 enterprises from 127 countries participated in the six-day event, and the value of deals reached during it was $70.7 billion. This year, the fifth edition of CIIE hosted enterprises from 145 countries, including multiple brands under L’Oréal, Kering Group, and Richemont, and the value of intended deals jumped to $73.5 billion. Of those who attended, there were 284 Fortune 500 companies. The message from China’s latest Congress intimated that the country, despite “Dynamic Zero” COVID restrictions, does not want to isolate itself and welcomes more international trade.

The growing importance of CIIE

Government-run trade fairs are not known for their glamor, nor appeal to cutting-edge fashion brands and design houses — even when partnered with prominent institutions such as the World Trade Organization. However, with COVID-19 restrictions still hampering business travel to China and making it nearly impossible for local citizens to shop abroad, access to the massive Chinese market has been siloed.

Previously, foreign brand teams and independent designers freely flew in for brand events, trunk shows and smaller expos. Since that’s now very difficult, these have largely stopped or activations have refocused on local teams when the China market presence is already established. The threat of sudden lockdowns or cancellations if an outbreak occurs also looms. Independent events run the gamut of these risks, but government ones can often mitigate many of them.

With access to the market largely limited to within Chinese borders, many big foreign consumer brands in beauty, fashion, tech and luxury have flocked to CIIE in past years. Brands are also keen to display innovation, strength and dedication to the China market, and doing this under a government event banner nods to a more formal commitment. The fact that President Xi delivers a keynote address at each CIIE speaks volumes about its importance to China.
Who attends CIIE and why?

As one of the biggest commercial events in China, CIIE is divided into six areas: consumer goods, food and agriculture, automobile, intelligent industry and information technology, medical equipment and healthcare products, and trade in services.

The event also hosts forums and conferences that discuss the latest developments in various sectors. L’Oréal, for instance, just held the first-ever North Asia Beauty Industry Summit that explored the role of technology and innovation in the future of beauty at CIIE.
Aside from showcasing brands in the Chinese market, CIIE paints China as an adamant defender of globalization and international trade. It was no coincidence that the first CIIE was held just as the Trump administration started its trade wars. This year, as an op-ed from Global Times points out, CIIE takes on the extra significance of demonstrating China’s determination to remain “open.” It dispels speculations that the country wants to isolate itself simply to adhere to its strict “Dynamic Zero” pandemic policy.

Smart lock integrates with home security ecosystem to enable remote

Nordic Semiconductor today announces that SimpliSafe, maker of award-winning security systems, has selected Nordic’s nRF52 Series multiprotocol System-on-Chip (SoC) to provide wireless connectivity for its ‘Smart Lock’ system. To get more news about security lock, you can visit securamsys.com official website.

The SimpliSafe Smart Lock is 23mm thick and easily installs over existing deadbolts without the need for power tools, and enables the user to lock or unlock their doors without keys. The Smart Lock integrates with the wider ‘SimpliSafe Home Security System’ which includes the ‘SimpliSafe Base Station and Keypad’ as well as motion sensors, entry sensors, smoke detectors, and a range of other detection devices.
Once the Smart Lock is installed it can be paired wirelessly with the SimpliSafe Security System, enabling the system to give commands to the lock when the user changes the system status. The system will also use sensor information to determine the behavior of the lock. For example, if the user has an entry sensor on the same door as the lock, the system can prevent the door from locking while it's ajar — to prevent damage to the door frame — and send a push notification to the user’s phone explaining why the door was not locked. The lock can be controlled via an exterior PIN pad, a SimpliSafe portable ‘Key Fob’, or the interior Keypad, as well as locked or unlocked from the ‘SimpliSafe App’ for remote activation. The SimpliSafe App also allows the user to view ‘events’ the system has recorded, the current status of the lock, as well as get notifications detailing when and how the door was locked or unlocked.

Nordic’s nRF52 Series SoC is deployed in the lock to enable secure over-the-air device firmware updates (OTA-DFU). The nRF52 Series SoC uses secure signatures to authenticate that only updates coming from a verified and trusted source can be made, while Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) offers strong protection, especially at the embedded level.

The Smart Lock is powered by four AA batteries, providing a battery life of up to 12 months in standard operation, thanks in part to the ultra-low power characteristics of the Nordic SoC. The nRF52 Series SoC has been engineered to minimize power consumption with features such as the 2.4GHz radio’s 5.5mA peak RX/TX currents and a fully-automatic power management system that reduces power consumption by up to 80 percent compared with Nordic’s nRF51 Series SoCs.

Nordic’s nRF52 Series multiprotocol SoC combines a 64MHz, 32-bit Arm® Cortex® M4 processor with floating point unit (FPU), with a 2.4GHz multiprotocol radio (supporting Bluetooth® 5, ANT™, and proprietary 2.4GHz RF protocol software) featuring -96dB RX sensitivity. The SoC is supplied with Nordic’s SoftDevice, a Bluetooth 5-certified RF software protocol stack for building advanced Bluetooth LE applications. The SoftDevice features Central, Peripheral, Broadcaster and Observer Bluetooth LE roles, supports up to twenty connections, and enables concurrent role operation.

“Nordic’s Software Development Kit, and the documentation and examples provided were extremely helpful and helped us accelerate development,” says Andrew Voris, an Engineering Manager at SimpliSafe. “SimpliSafe wrote its own application code using the Nordic SDK wherever we could, and in some cases it was possible to use examples from the SDK as boilerplate code, and then expand or modify the functionality as needed. Nordic’s fast response allowed us to get comfortable with the device and development environment early on.”

The best leggings of 2022

Chances are, if you’re reading this you’ve gone through your fair share of leggings over the years — and perhaps you’re looking for a new go-to pair. That’s easier said than done in an oversaturated market and especially if you’re buying them online without trying them out for size, so we set out to find the best leggings for women, whatever their needs. To get more news about Full Length Legging, you can visit destgjshop.com official website.

So we rounded up 10 staffers who wear a range of sizes (and who all have some pretty strong opinions on leggings) to test a dozen pairs in a quest to find the very best of the best, both for everyday wear and for working out, in terms of quality, comfort, style and more. Of course, we understand that as with any fashion choice, what some deem stylish others may not, so we made sure to gather as many thoughts as possible. Note that for accurate comparison’s sake, we stuck to black leggings (or dark-colored if black was unavailable), and all of the pairs we tested were high-waisted. While most of the leggings we tried had their merits, ultimately four stood out to us as the comfiest, most durable, least constricting leggings out there.
We’ve long been fans of the Athleta brand for all things active-related (including their breathable masks for working out), and so it was no surprise that we were beyond impressed by the Salutation Stash Pocket II 7/8 Tight. A newer version of Athleta’s customer-favorite Salutation Stash Pocket Tight, this pair is crafted from the same fabric as the original but with some improvements, like a sturdier waistband and fewer seams for a smoother legging.
The breathable leggings are made from Powervita fabric, a blend of nylon/Lycra spandex that the brand describes as having “interlocking construction to provide light compression that delivers just-right support.” Based on our testing, we can indeed confirm this to be accurate: After both working out in these and wearing them for everyday activities — including a whole lot of lounging around the house — we found the leggings were equal parts comfortable, sweat-wicking and flattering. Even after wearing them a few days in a row without washing them, they continued to be formfitting and didn’t stretch or sag in any areas. We had no issues with the secure waistband.

The Salutation Stash Pocket II is available in sizes XXS–3XL in its regular inseam length (25 inches), XXS–XL in the petite inseam (23 inches) and XS–XL in tall (28 inches). For taller folks or those looking for a full-length legging, the style is also available in inseams up to 30 inches. We found sizing to be accurate, and appreciated how opaque the pair was — no chance of a see-through surprise while wearing these. They also feature discreet side pockets that lie flat against the legging, for convenience that doesn’t add any bulkiness to their design, a particular surprise since the pockets are substantial enough to fit a phone or wallet. In eight muted colors, including plenty of neutrals, its aesthetic doesn’t scream “workout legging,” and we could see ourselves just as easily wearing it to brunch as we could to the fitness studio. And for outdoor wear, this pair has the added bonus of UPF 50+ for protection against UV rays.

After washing and drying these leggings several times during our testing, we didn’t observe any noticeable pilling, fading or stretching, though one of our testers did notice some lint/pet hair buildup, which was easily removable with a sticky roller. (Note that we plan on updating this piece should we observe any significant wear and tear or issues with durability after even more extended wear.)

We realize that a near-$100 price point may cause some sticker shock, but you get, as they say, what you pay for: In this case, high-quality, versatile leggings with all the features and comfort you’d expect in an ideal pair for both everyday and high-impact activities. As one of our testers put it, “This is my first pair of upscale leggings and it’s a world of difference.” If you’re a woman looking for comfortable, durable, stylish leggings that you can seamlessly take from an outdoor run to a meal with friends, we can’t think of a better pair than this one.

Best road bike helmets 2022

The best road bike helmets will protect your head in the event of a crash, but they won't feel uncomfortable to wear all day every day and many have advanced features to improve airflow over your head and aerodynamics, while being so light that you'll hardly notice you're wearing them. To get more news about ebike helmet, you can visit magicyclebike.com official website.

Although the best aero helmets are designed specifically to save watts by streamlining the airflow over your head, even many of the best vented road bike helmets will also be aero optimised, while the best gravel bike helmets will aim for great airflow at lower speeds.
Many of the best road bike helmets now include rotational impact protection too. It's a useful addition to the protection from straight-on impacts that are usually the basis of the tests that all helmets have to pass as part of the mandatory safety testing before they can be sold.

MIPS is the best-known rotational protection system, but other options include SPiN, used by POC in some of its helmets. Bontrager has WaveCel, designed to crush and protect your head in an impact, while Koroyd, used by Endura and Smith in some of their helmets, has the same objective.

At Cyclingnews we've ridden and rated almost all the best road bike helmets out there, so we can give you an objective opinion of their pros and cons, looking closely at fit, form, aesthetics, comfort, noise, adjustability and many other factors besides.

Check out our pick of the best road bike helmets below or, if you're after a women's-specific helmet, our guide to the best women's bike helmets. At the bottom of the page, we've got a buyer's guide to what to look for in a road bike helmet.
Now in its third iteration, as its name indicates, the Specialized Prevail 3 helmet has some significant upgrades to increase ventilation and safety over the Prevail 2. The new design sees woven aramid fibres replacing the more traditional cross-bridges between the longitudinal ribs, to create an entire Aircage within the EPS foam. This significantly opens up the front of the helmet to airflow and makes the Prevail 3 the most airy helmet we've tested by far.

There's also a new MIPS Node Air version of MIPS technology which integrates MIPS more directly into the helmet's padding and adds perforations to increase airflow. The result is that the Prevail 3 is the best road bike helmet ever to be tested by independent rotational impact testers at Virginia Tech. In other words, there's no safer road helmet on the market right now, according to those tests.

Like the older Prevail II and Prevail II Vent, the Prevail 3 is compatible with Specialized's ANGi crash detection device that alerts a named contact if you have an accident. The Giro Aether Spherical offers great ventilation and keeps safety as a priority through its MIPS system. Instead of putting a MIPS lining on the inside of the helmet, as is often the case, the Giro Aether Spherical has a dual-layer EPS foam structure, with the two layers able to move independently and enable protection from 'a wide range of impact energies'.

This design should not only improve fit but a lack of an additional MIPS lining contributes to the ventilation performance with the brand saying the helmet is two degrees Fahrenheit (about one Celsius) cooler than other Giro helmets, such as the Synthe MIPS.

The coolest electric bikes  we saw at Eurobike 2022

Eurobike 2022, one of the largest bicycle trade shows in the world, took on a new life this year as it moved to a larger venue in Frankfurt, Germany. Electrek was on site to check out all the latest news and unveilings from the electric bike world. To get more news about electric bikes for adults, you can visit magicyclebike.com official website.

We also want to thank Tern Bicycles for sponsoring our Eurobike coverage this year, which was perfect timing considering Tern’s two newest e-bike models were on full display at the event.
Tern Bicycles
First up among the new models on display was the Tern Quick Haul, which was designed to take Tern’s “right-sized” electric cargo bikes and distill the best features into a more affordable version for the masses.
You may already be familiar with the Tern HSD and GSD electric bikes, two incredibly well-outfitted models that we’ve featured before. We even tested them out in our Eurobike coverage last year, but those e-bikes are quite pricey, starting at nearly $4k and increasing quickly from there. There’s good news though! For those that don’t have a fast stack of Benjamins burning a hole in their pocket, the new Tern Quick Haul starts at US $2,999 in the US and €2,999 in Europe. At those prices, it brings the high-end e-bike market back down to a price range that a wider range of riders can afford.

That means the bike still has a small format but heavy duty frame, awesome vertical parking rear rack, Bosch mid-drive motor, high quality hydraulic brakes and other important components. With that loadout, the Quick Haul is a heavy-hitting cargo e-bike that fits in a space that is much smaller than most cargo e-bikes.

The bike is rated for loads up to 330 lb (150 kg), which means most riders will be able to carry a pile of cargo or even a passenger behind them. Tern’s wide range of child-carrying accessories make this a potent carpool bike for taking the kiddos to school.

Not only did we get a chance to see the new Quick Haul for the first time in person, but we got the chance to test it out as well. Electrek’s publisher Seth Weintraub and I each took a Quick Haul for a test ride, swapping back and forth between a commuter spec model with panniers and a delivery model outfitted for a pizza company. You can see our test riding as well as the rest of our Eurobike coverage in the video below. The Quick Hauls were surprisingly nimble for cargo bikes, though that should be expected from their smaller wheels and shorter wheelbase than most long tail cargo bikes.

Having ridden several Tern electric bikes now (both from the front and back seat, errr… child seat), I’m always impressed with how smoothly they ride, especially considering that they don’t have suspension.Perhaps the tighter tolerances and overall build quality simply shine through, making the bikes feel that much more solid and stable, even without the need for any suspension beneath you.

Tern also showed off the company’s new NBD cargo e-bike, which also adopts a smaller format than most cargo e-bikes yet does so in a more accessible frame style.

The step-through frame is even easier to mount for anyone with limited leg mobility and is perfect for literally anyone that doesn’t want to kick their kid in the head when swinging a leg over the rear child seat. I don’t know why step-through frames aren’t more common, especially for this type of applicaiton, but Tern definitely gets it.

We’ll be back with a more in-depth article and video on our testing experience with the Tern Quick Haul soon, so be on the lookout for that shortly.
