New First Aid Kit Requirements Enhance Occupational Health and Safety

Employers will be required to reassess the risks of their workplace to ensure their current first aid kit is suitable based on CSA standard Z1220. Employers are allowed a grace period of one year to ensure their kits meet the new standard.
The guidelines ensure kits are consistent among all Canadian jurisdictions for common Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards. This consistency provides safe work environments in multiple provinces and helps organizations to more easily operate.
These requirements also ensure OHS first aid kit requirements in this province are aligned with the National Occupational Health and Safety Reconciliation Agreement.
