Nimbus Data recently announced the launch of the largest capacity (100 terabytes) solid state drive (SSD) ever made -- the ExaDrive DC100, It offers over 3 times the capacity of its rival and uses 85% less power per terabyte (TB). Thanks to its patent-pending multiprocessor architecture, the DC100 is able to offer support for exceptionally enhanced capacity as compared to monolithic flash controllers. It uses 3D NAND to provide enough capacity to store 20,000 HD movies, 20 million songs, or 2,000 iPhones worth of data in a device that can fit in an individual's back pocket. Furthermore, data centers can achieve more than 100 petabytes of raw capacity with a single rack of DC100 SSDs and reduce their rack space, power, and cooling costs by 85% per terabyte, thus allowing more workloads to move to flash at the lowest total cost of ownership.

Just like hard drives, the DC100 features a 3.5-inch form factor and SATA interface and is plug-and-play compatible with a vast variety of server and storage platforms. Its portability and low-power also render it highly suited for IoT and edge applications. The ExaDrive DC100 attains up to 100,000 IOps (read or write) and up to 500 MB/s throughput. The SSD's equally-balanced read/write performance is well-suited for a broad suite of workloads, from rich content and cloud infrastructure to machine learning and big data.
